NATO Tensions Rise as U.S. Reshapes Military Footprint in Europe

Currently, there is a restructuring happening within the US forces in Europe. The restructuring is creating problems among the other members of the NATO alliance due to conflicting messages from US President Donald Trump. Although there are fewer troops in Germany as a result of disagreements with German Chancellor Merkel, there will be more troops in Poland because of the good relations between the President of the United States and Poland’s President. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, this is part of a broader evaluation of the role of the USA in other countries as it faces conflicts in the Middle East region.
